Hot stock: Over 100.6m SIIC Environment shares traded before 2pm
SHANGHAI government-backed water-treatment specialist, SIIC Environment Holdings, recorded more than 100.6 million shares changing hands at 1.50pm, making it the most active counter so far on Wednesday.
Its counter lost nearly 6.5 per cent or 5.5 cents to 78.5 cents.
Even in early morning trade, SIIC's shares were among the most active.
Last week, the group was among the 10 most active stocks on the FTSE ST Mid Cap Index, which now includes Straits Times Index stocks.
The group has been operating in China's environmental protection sector for more than a decade.
Currently, it boasts an overall portfolio of about 70 water treatment and supply projects and three waste-to-power projects across 15 municipality and provinces, namely Shandong, Guangdong, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangxi, Ningxia, Henan, Liaoning, Shanxi, Sichuan and Heilongjiang.
