London stocks close 1.2% higher ahead of Brexit vote result

[LONDON] London's main stock index closed over one per cent higher Thursday as investors bet on Britain voting to remain in the EU in a key referendum.
The FTSE-100 index stood 1.23 per cent firmer at 6,338.1 at the close, with referendum results expected before the market reopens on Friday.
