Shanghai: Stocks dip after margin-trading rally
[HONG KONG] Shanghai stocks opened lower on Tuesday, after surging the previous session as authorities increased support for margin trading, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.57 per cent, or 17.17 points, to 3,001.63.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, slid 0.84 percent, or 15.81 points, to 1,870.56.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index was up 35.4 points, or 0.17 per cent, to 20,719.55 shortly after the opening bell.
