Shanghai: Stocks end higher after inflation data
[HONG KONG] Shanghai stocks ended the day sharply higher on Monday after data showed Chinese inflation remained well above two per cent last month, raising hopes the mainland economy is stabilising.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 1.64 per cent, or 49.00 points, to 3,033.96 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, gained 1.99 per cent, or 38.16 points, to 1,952.48.
And Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index added 0.35 per cent, or 70.41 points, to 20,440.81.
