Shanghai: Stocks open lower

[SHANGHAI] Chinese stocks opened slightly lower on Wednesday amid tighter market liquidity.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slid 0.17 per cent, or 5.40 points, to 3,138.31, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, dipped 0.12 per cent, or 2.33 points, to 1,904.55.

Hong Kong markets were closed for a holiday.
