Singapore shares begin afternoon trading on negative ground; STI at 3,477.22

SINGAPORE shares resumed trading on Tuesday afternoon in negative territory with the Straits Times Index at 3,477.22, down 0.3 per cent, or 10.66 points, on the day as at 1.03pm.

Losers outnumbered gainers 232 to 129, or about nine down for every five up, with 894.9 million shares worth S$650.8 million in total changing hands.

Among the active stocks, Genting Singapore entered the afternoon session up 3.2 per cent, or four Singapore cents, at S$1.29 with 49.81 million shares traded. QT Vascular was the second-most traded with some 45.8 million shares changing hands, flat at two Singapore cents apiece.

Active index stocks included DBS Group Holdings, up 0.774 per cent or S$0.22 at S$28.65 a share; and Singtel, down 1.46 per cent or five Singapore cents, at S$3.38.
