Singapore shares enter Wednesday afternoon trade on higher ground, STI up 0.7% on day
SINGAPORE shares resumed trading on Wednesday afternoon in positive territory with the Straits Times Index at 3,502.34, up 0.7 per cent, or 25.81 points on the day as at 1.01pm.
Against the benchmark level of 3,506.1 heading into the midday break however, the index was down by 3.76 points, or 0.1 per cent.
Gainers outnumbered losers 215 to 139, with about 861.3 million shares worth S$739.3 million changing hands.
Among the most active stocks, Disa was flat at 1.2 Singapore cents with 66.5 million shares traded; and Genting Singapore was up 0.78 per cent, or one Singapore cent to S$1.30 with 25 million shares traded.
Other active index stocks included DBS which was up 1.7 per cent, or S$0.50 to S$29.16; while UOB was up 1.2 per cent, or S$0.33 to S$27.55.
