THE local market opened 0.1 per cent higher as at 9.00am on Tuesday, with the Straits Times Index gaining 2.2 points to 3,026.7.

This followed a mildly higher finish on Wall Street despite weak corporate earnings reports in the United States.

About 61.7 million shares worth S$33.7 million in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$0.55 per share.

The most actively traded stock was QT Vascular, which rose S$0.004 to S$0.178 with 9.5 million shares changing hands. Other actives included Blumont and Loyz Energy.
