Singapore shares open 0.29% lower on Wednesday
SINGAPORE share prices opened weaker on Wednesday, with the Straits Times Index (STI) down 8.52 points or 0.29 per cent to 2,886.14 as at 9.02am, ahead of looming central bank meetings in the US and Japan.
Top gainers in early morning trade included Keppel Corporation, Haw Par Corporation, Sembcorp Industries, and Wilmar International.
A total of 35.8 million shares worth S$42.4 million had changed hands as at 9.01am. Gainers outnumbered losers 68 to 47.
