Singapore shares open higher on extended Wall St gains
SINGAPORE shares opened higher on Tuesday as Wall Street extended its gains overnight.
The benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) opened up 6.79 points or 0.24 per cent at 2,874.
At 9.03am, some 46.1 million shares worth S$59.5 million changed hands with gainers beating losers 71 to 45.
Among the most active stocks were Noble, SingMedical and Golden Agri-Resources.
Overnight, all three US equity gauges closed at record highs for the second time in three sessions. Last Thursday was the first time since 1999 that all three stock market gauges had achieved the feat, but the trio took a breather in Friday's session.
