Singapore shares open higher on Wednesday on US market rally

SINGAPORE share prices opened higher on Wednesday with the Straits Times Index up 37.66 points to 2,720.05 as at 9am. The US markets surged overnight, though futures for West Texas Intermediate crude fell.
Top gainers in early-morning trade included stocks in the Jardine group, DBS and Great Eastern.
Some 73.6 million shares worth S$132 million changed hands, with gainers outnumbering losers 136 to 23.
