Singapore shares open weaker on Tuesday

THE Straits Times Index opened 9.91 points or 0.35 per cent lower on Tuesday at 2,805.13, after a mixed showing of overseas markets overnight, with Wall Street stocks finishing higher and European stocks sinking to the lowest since October.

At 9.01am, 51 million shares worth S$70 million have changed hands. Losers marginally outpaced gainers 67 to 62.

Among most active stocks, CapitaLand slipped 0.6 per cent to S$3.10, MMP Resources surged 18.2 per cent to 1.3 cents and Rex International rose 4.7 per cent to 8.9 cents.
