Singapore shares rise 1.3%
SHARE prices on the local bourse rose on Monday with the key Straits Times Index (STI) finishing at 2,766.06 - 35.26 points or 1.3 per cent higher.
The positive closing following two weeks of consolidation in the local bourse was buoyed by Friday's gains on Wall Street after latest data on slowing US job growth reduced expectations of a June rate hike by the US Federal Reserve.
Turnover came in at 1.05 billion shares worth S$931 million. Losers outpaced gainers with 222 counters down and 159 up.
