Singapore stocks enter Friday afternoon trading on lower ground; STI at 3,543.29

SINGAPORE shares resumed trading on Friday afternoon in negative territory with the Straits Times Index at 3,543.29, down 3.94 points, or 0.1 per cent on the day as at 1.03pm.

Against the benchmark's level of 3,541.19 heading into the midday break, however, the index was up marginally by 2.10 points, or 0.06 per cent.

Losers outnumbered gainers 226 to 149, or about three down for every two up, with about 2.29 billion shares worth S$982.3 million changing hands.

Among the most active stocks, Marco Polo Marine was down 5.09 per cent, or 0.3 Singapore cent, to S$0.056 with 723 million shares traded; while Midas Holdings was up 2.7 per cent, or 0.5 Singapore cent, to S$0.19 with 81 million shares traded.

Other active index stocks included Sembcorp Marine, up 7.8 per cent or 20 Singapore cents to S$2.77; and CapitaLand, down 1.3 per cent or five Singapore cents to S$3.75.
