Singapore stocks open higher on Monday

SINGAPORE stocks opened higher on Monday following gains on Wall Street on Friday. As at 9.04am, the benchmark Straits Times Index was up 9.98 points or 0.35 per cent at 2,869.31.

On Wall Street, all three indices closed at new highs on Friday on optimism about stronger US growth following the presidential election, albeit amid light holiday volume.

On Singapore's bourse, some 78.5 million shares worth S$87.5 million changed hands, with gainers outnumbering losers 74 to 62.

The highest value-traded stocks by 9.06am were Keppel Corp, up four cents to S$5.44; Wilmar international, up one cent to S$3.60; and DBS Bank, up 14 cents to S$17.19.
