Taiwan: Stocks fall on Wall St; tech heavyweights down
[TAIPEI] Taiwan stocks fell on Wednesday in line with declines in other regional bourses and Wall Street overnight, led by heavyweights such as TSMC.
Minutes into trading, the main index was off 1.1 per cent at 7,928.15 points, after ending more than 1 percent lower at 8,017.56 in the prior session.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC), the world's top contract chip maker, dropped 0.8 per cent. Hon Hai Precision, a major assembler of Apple Inc's iPhone 6, lost 0.6 per cent.
