Taiwan: Stocks rise slightly; plastics, transport gain

[TAIPEI] Taiwan stocks rose 0.12 per cent at opening on Monday, led by plastics and transportation shares amid mixed performance in other regional bourses.
The main TAIEX index was up 11.67 points at 9,629.37 as of 0218 GMT, after closing up 0.52 per cent on Friday.
Plastics was among the best-performing sub-indexes, with leading conglomerate Formosa Plastics Corp up 1.18 per cent, in line with a 1.16 per cent gain in the overall subindex.
Transportation was up 1.5 per cent, boosted by major carrier Eva Airways Corp, which notched a 2.08 per cent gain.
Autos slipped 0.21 per cent, while the electronics subindex was up 0.12 per cent.
The Taiwan dollar was down T$0.006 at T$31.254 to the US dollar.
