Tokyo: Shares close flat after rally ahead of US jobs report

[TOKYO] Tokyo's benchmark index closed flat on Friday, pausing after a two-day rally, as investors were on the sidelines ahead of a closely watched US jobs report.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which opened in negative territory, ticked up by 0.02 per cent, or 2.71 points, to 17,725.13.
The broader Topix index of all first-section shares edged up 0.15 per cent, or 2.18 points, to 1,444.92.
