Tokyo: Shares close higher after Yellen speech

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares gained 1.76 per cent Friday, shrugging off a weak inflation report after Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen hinted at a US rate hike by the end of 2015.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange closed 308.68 points higher at 17,880.51, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares climbed 1.88 per cent, or 26.84 points, to 1,453.81.
