Tokyo: Shares close lower on slowdown in Chinese growth

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares closed 0.88 per cent lower on Monday, on profit taking from China-related stocks following data showing China's economy grew in the third quarter at its slowest pace in more than six years.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange dropped 160.57 points to 18,131.23, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares lost 0.74 per cent, or 11.09 points, to 1,494.75.
