Tokyo: Shares extend global rally in opening deals

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares pushed higher at the start of trade on Thursday, extending a two-day rally following a strong lead from other global equity markets.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 1.52 per cent, or 248.61 points, to 16,629.83 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares gained 1.47 per cent, or 19.59 points, to 1,352.03.
