Tokyo: Shares open 1.11% higher

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened 1.11 per cent higher Monday amid speculation an economic downturn will force the Bank of Japan to increase stimulus after policymakers meet later this week.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 195.87 points to 17,921.00 in opening deals.
