Tokyo: Shares open higher on Friday

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened higher on Friday, following rises in European and US and markets after the European Central Bank extended its stimulus programme beyond March.

The benchmark Nikkei 225, which posted this year's best close on Thursday, added 0.32 per cent, or 60.95 points, to 18,826.42 in the first few minutes of trade. The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.04 per cent, or 0.63 points, to 1,513.32.
