Tokyo: Shares open lower despite Wall Street gains

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened lower on Thursday as exporters were dented by a stronger yen, despite a positive lead from Wall Street.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 0.28 per cent, or 44.11 points, to 15,671.25 minutes after the opening bell, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares fell 0.34 per cent, or 4.30 points, to 1,263.45.
