[TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened lower on Tuesday as a stronger yen dented exporters and falling oil prices hung over the market.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 0.49 per cent, or 79.04 points, to 16,044.03 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares fell 0.58 per cent, or 7.5 points, to 1,295.21.
