Tokyo: Shares open lower on weak Wall Street, rising yen

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened lower after falls on Wall Street triggered by weak corporate earnings, while a rebounding yen weighed on the Japanese bourse.
The Nikkei-225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell 0.94 per cent or 158.62 points to 16,651.60 shortly after the opening bell, while the Topix index of all first-section shares dropped 1.03 per cent or 13.74 points to 1,325.65.
