Tokyo: Shares open lower, track Wall St loss

[TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened sharply lower on Tuesday, following a mostly negative lead from Wall Street while investors await details of a massive government stimulus programme.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index shed 1.00 per cent, or 166.09 points, to open at 16,469.68, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares lost 0.99 per cent, or 13.09 points, to 1,308.74.
