Tokyo: Stocks close 0.78% higher
[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed 0.78 per cent higher on Friday, as investors jumped back in after the Bank of Japan cleared uncertainty clouding the market by announcing it would stand pat on fresh monetary stimulus.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which opened flat ahead of the decision, rose 147.39 points to close at 19,083.10.
The Topix index of all first-section shares was up 0.72 per cent, gaining 11.09 points to 1,558.20.
