[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks jumped 1.43 per cent to close just below the psychologically important 19,000 level on Thursday, as a weak yen boosted exporters and overshadowed another loss on Wall Street.
The Nikkei 225 at the Tokyo Stock Exchange ended up 267.59 points at 18,991.11, while the Topix index of all first-section shares rose 1.37 per cent, or 20.96 points, to 1,546.63.
