[TOKYO] Japanese stocks rose Friday as another weak batch of US data dimmed the likelihood the Federal Reserve will hike interest rates next week.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange's benchmark Nikkei 225 index gained 0.70 per cent, or 114.28 points, to 16,519.29, while the Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.80 per cent, or 10.39 points, at 1,311.50.
