Tokyo: Stocks close higher on bargain-hunting

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed higher on Friday, as bargain-hunting lifted the market out of the red despite lingering worries about the state of the global economy.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange climbed 0.51 percent, or 86.52 points, to finish at 16,938.87, while the Topix index of all first-section shares gained 0.53 percent, or 7.15 points, to 1,359.32.
