[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed lower on Monday as the yen rose, with investors wary after below-expectation US economic growth data and renewed tensions over North Korea's ICBM programme.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index edged down 0.17 per cent, or 34.66 points, to 19,925.18, while the Topix index of all first-section issues was down 0.16 per cent, or 2.61 points, at 1,618.61.
