Tokyo: Stocks close up 0.29%

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks rose 0.29 per cent on Tuesday in post-holiday trading after another record close on Wall Street and as the yen remained weak against the dollar.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 50.11 points to finish at 17,407.62, while the Topix index of all first-section issues climbed 0.64 per cent, or 8.97 points, to 1,409.15.
