Tokyo: Stocks close up 0.33%

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks closed up 0.33 per cent Friday on buying on dips with investors focusing on political developments as Japan gears up for an election next month.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 56.65 points to 17,357.51, while the Topix index of all first-section shares edged up 0.18 per cent, or 2.54 points, to 1,400.18.
