Tokyo: Stocks close up 1.17%

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks climbed 1.17 per cent on Friday as a weaker yen boosted exporter shares with investors awaiting a closely watched US jobs report.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 219.16 points to close at 18,971.00, while the Topix index of all first-section issues added 1.12 percent, or 17.12 points, to 1,540.84.
