Tokyo: Stocks down as investors still cautious after rout

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks fell Tuesday on late profit-taking and a strong yen, giving up early gains as investors remained nervous despite two days of gains on Wall Street.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index lost 0.65 per cent or 137.94 points to close at 21,244.68, while the broader Topix index was down 0.88 per cent or 15.19 points to 1,716.78.
