Tokyo: Stocks end flat as profit-taking weighs on market

[TOKYO] Tokyo's benchmark stock index closed flat on Wednesday on afternoon profit-taking and amid caution as investors await the outcome of a two-day central bank meeting for fresh trading cues.
The Nikkei 225 at the Tokyo Stock Exchange edged up 0.09 per cent, or 18.55 points, to 19,649.18, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares finished up 0.03 per cent, or 0.42 points, at 1,586.53.
