[TOKYO] Tokyo's benchmark index ended slightly lower Friday, after a roller-coaster week that has seen shares hit by worries about China's economy and uncertainty over whether the US will raise interest rates next week.

The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange slipped 0.19 per cent, or 35.40 points, to 18,264.22, while the broader Topix index of all first section shares edged up 0.05 per cent, or 0.71 points, to 1,480.23.
