Tokyo: Stocks open 1.06% higher on weaker yen, Wall St gains

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened sharply higher on Friday as a weaker yen boosted exporters and investor sentiment brightened after Wall Street rallied on stronger oil prices.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 1.06 per cent, or 171.18 points, to 16,311.52 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares climbed 0.96 per cent, or 12.60 points, to 1,320.14.
