Tokyo: Stocks open flat after rallies

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened almost flat as investors took to the sidelines after three consecutive days of rallies at the start of this year's trading.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index edged down 0.07 per cent or 17.53 points to 23,832.46 in early trade while the broader Topix index opened up 0.05 per cent or 1.02 points at 1,890.31.
