Tokyo: Stocks open flat before central bank meetings

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened flat on Wednesday as investors kept to the sidelines ahead of central bank meetings in the United States and Japan.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange ticked up 0.09 per cent, or 16.40 points, to 17,369.68 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares edged down 0.01 points to 1,391.68.
