Tokyo: Stocks open flat on Friday
[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened flat on Friday with Wall Street closing mostly lower but the dollar holding steady against the yen.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 0.02 per cent, or 3.15 points, to 19,479.71 at the start.
The dollar remained steady against the yen early on Friday after reversing declines following a dovish statement by the US Federal Reserve on Wednesday.
The greenback was at 120.79 yen early on Friday, compared with 120.80 yen in New York late on Thursday.
The euro bought $1.0667 and 128.83 yen against $1.0660 and 128.77 yen in US trade.
