Tokyo: Stocks open higher
[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday, extending gains after hitting a six-month high the previous day while Nintendo plunged five per cent after it gave gamers a sneak peek at a long-awaited new console.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index, which closed at its best level since late April on Thursday, added 0.23 per cent, or 39.91 points, to 17,275.41 in the first few minutes of trading.
The Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.08 per cent, or 1.03 points, to 1,371.83.
