Tokyo: Stocks open higher

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday as banks rallied following strong performances from their US peers.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 gained 0.64 per cent, or 128.26 points, to 20,258.67 in early trade while the Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.77 per cent, or 12.39 points, at 1,626.76.
