Tokyo: Stocks open higher after Abe-Trump meeting

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday after a joint press conference by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and US President Donald Trump following their summit failed to surprise the market.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.42 percent, or 94.07 points, to 22,252.27 in early trade while the broader Topix index was up 0.38 per cent, or 6.57 points, at 1,756.24.
