Tokyo: Stocks open higher as weaker yen lifts exporters

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Friday as a weaker yen boosted exporters after trading resumed following a long public holiday.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 0.40 per cent, or 65.29 points, to 16,212.67 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares gained 0.42 per cent, or 5.44 points, to 1,305.40.
