Tokyo stocks open higher despite North Korea missile

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Wednesday, shrugging off North Korea's latest launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile that splashed down in Japan's exclusive economic zone.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index gained 0.65 per cent, or 146.74 points, to 22,632.98 in early trade while the broader Topix index rose 0.70 per cent, or 12.39 points, at 1,784.46.
