Tokyo: Stocks open higher despite weak Wall Street lead

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Wednesday as markets shrugged off a weak lead from Wall Street and the deadly Brussels bombings.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 0.55 per cent, or 93.53 points, to 17,142.08 about five minutes after the opening bell, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares added 0.57 per cent, or 7.80 points, to 1,377.73.
