Tokyo: Stocks open higher on Friday

    [TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Friday as a weak yen triggered buying of exporter shares.

    The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.65 per cent, or 111.97 points, to 17,448.39 in the first few minutes of trading. The Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.60 per cent, or 8.29 points, to 1,390.30.
