Tokyo: Stocks open higher on Monday

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Monday, tracking gains on Wall Street as the benchmark index extended buying sentiment after ending at a fresh 21-year high last week.
The Nikkei 225 index, which hit the highest level since November 1996 on Friday, rose 0.27 per cent, or 58.10 points, to 21,213.28 in early trade, while the broader Topix index was up 0.24 per cent or 4.07 points, at 1,712.69.
